The last two months have been cram packed. I finished the rough draft of the novel and sent it to several people to critique. Most of the critiques were good, one had a lot of good points about changes I needed to make. So after 3 rounds of editing I sent the manuscript to the publisher.
When I hit submit, the website said to wait 12-14 weeks before nudging. I’ve talked with others that have submitted to the same publisher. Some have been waiting since August of 2015 others since earlier this year. Both have nudge their respective editors. I’d like to think since they sent their works to a specific editor that is why it’s taking them so long. Everytime I get a new email notification on my phone, I’m slightly hopeful it’s from the publisher. Then I have to remind myself that it’s only been one week and I need to cool it. Yes, you read that right. It’s only been one week. In a world of instant gratification, this waiting thing is going to kill me.
What will I do to fill the time? Why I’ll work on book two, of course. I’m already a little over five thousand words into it. I’m definitely liking the direction it is taking.
Then there’s baseball and volleyball season, that will cool my heels. I’ll be busy running Red to baseball games and LG to volleyball games.
Right now, I’m resting in my giant, not so comfy, bed, while my body fights the plague a/k/a bronchitis. This one escalated rather quickly. I went from a headache on Saturday to a shot in the butt on Tuesday. I stayed home from work today and thought, “Maybe I can get a little writing done.” But my body and the cough syrup with Hydrocodone suggested otherwise.
Well, I’m going to go and maybe get some writing done or maybe I’ll go back to bed. But until next time, Happy Writing!
